What's blooming in my garden?

Today was such a Southern California spring day - starting with "June gloom", but morphing into beautiful sunshine with a light breeze. My garden has realized it's spring, too, by bursting into bloom! Here are some photos of what's blooming now in my garden.

Begonia 'Phoe's Cleo'

Begonia 'Tired Tiger'

Rosa cv Wekplasol 'Flutterbye'

Erigeron karvinskianus (Santa Barbara daisy)

Armeria maritima

Mimulus 'Maddie' (Monkeyflower)

Erigeron glaucus 'lavender-pink' (Seaside daisy)

Pelargornium (Ivy geranium)

Sisyrinchium bellum (Blue-eyed Grass)

Cistus x hybridus 'Gold Prize' (Rockrose)

Sphaerulcea bonariensis (Latin Globemallow)

Lobelia laxiflora

Cistus 'Sunset' (Rockrose)

Salvia microphylla 'Hot Lips'

Eremophila glabra (Emu bush)

Clerodendrum ugandense (Blue butterfly bush)

Ceanothus 'Concha' (California Lilac)

Random photos from this week

This week has been really busy - Passover started Monday night and preparations took up a lot of my time.

Below are some random photos from the past week - farmers' market, blooming garden, sunset hike, beautiful tudor revival house, and a pretty sky over LAX. Enjoy.

Calligraphy

This past Sunday I went to a workshop organized by the Society for Calligraphy. The leader was Ed Fong, a long-time calligrapher for the City of Los Angeles. He showed us examples of work from his office (including a series of comic signs that were for in-office fun) and then he showed us his method of adding dramatic watercolor clouds and texture around the calligraphy. It was a lot of fun - and I can see using it in some projects I have in mind. It was nice to have a day of creativity.

Flora, fauna, sky & homes

Today is a mix of photos: I thought the sky with the contrail and moon looked very geometric. The moth was an early morning visitor on my garage door. The view of the Griffith Park Observatory on a gloomy afternoon. A pseudo-villa on the open-house Pasadena Heritage Spring home tour, including dragon lanterns and grapefruit orchard. Enjoy.

Purim

This past weekend was the Jewish holiday of Purim (there was also a "super moon" - see the first picture). It's my most favorite holiday - family, friends, food, charity, and parties :) What could be better?

Light

This week, just some views from my commute: different views of light.
